Carol Vernallis



Vernallis’s idea of music videos is creativity. She believes music videos are for entertainment. Obvious edits draw attention, for example jump shots, flashing images and instant cuts and jumps also draw attention. Master shots such as base tracks are frequently used.  Normally the camera will move with the music, involving the audience.

Examples of videos that illustrate her ideas:
·       Tupac – Ghetto Gospel: follows this theory various times throughout. Specially showing the effect the in a fairy fast montage. This video conveys the ghetto and how it is there, signs for entertainment for some.

·       Cee Lo Green – Forget You: A ‘master shot’ (base track) is frequently used, giving the video structure.
