A music video has many functions in itself. One of the main purposes of a music video obviously is to entertain the audience, therefore the video needs to be interesting and engaging to its target audience. Also, there are two ways of determining the functions of a music video; one being to promote the artist so that they can get signed to a record label or to just simply help the artist become known and build up a fan base. However, some artists already have an existing fan base so the function of their music video may be to promote their album so that they can get as many people to buy the album when it releases as possible.
